Slowing Down to See the Season: A New Workshop Series at Richland Creek
There are moments on the farm—usually early in the morning, when the light is just right—when everything feels still enough to really notice. The way the fog lifts off the pasture. The first green of spring pushing through. The long shadows in the fall.
Those are the kinds of moments we want to share.

This year at Richland Creek Farm & Market, I’m grateful to partner with the South Arkansas Arts Center to offer something a little different—a four-part watercolor workshop series that invites you to step into the rhythm of the farm and experience each season in a slower, more intentional way.
Artist Maria Villegas will lead each session, beginning here on the farm just outside El Dorado. We’ll spend the morning outdoors, where Maria will guide you through a simple drawing exercise—nothing intimidating, just a chance to observe, to sit still, and to take in what’s right in front of you.
Afterward, we’ll gather for a break and share a few farm-to-table refreshments. It’s one of my favorite parts of any day—bringing people together around good food, grown and prepared with care.
From there, you’ll head into town to the studio at the South Arkansas Arts Center, where Maria will help you turn those sketches and impressions into a finished watercolor piece.
Each workshop is tied to the season, which means no two will feel the same. Spring will bring its soft greens and new growth, while fall will offer deeper tones and a different kind of stillness. You’re welcome to join us for one session or come back throughout the year and watch the landscape change.

If you’ve been looking for a reason to slow down, to try something new, or just to spend a little more time outside, we’d love to have you join us.
There’s a lot of beauty here, if you take the time to see it.
